Brook Electrical Leases 162,419 SF from IDI in Chicago

Chicago (October 11, 2007) -- IDI has closed a 162,419-square-foot lease with Brook Electrical Supply Co. at 880 South Rohlwing Road in Addison, Ill., in suburban Chicago. The company, a distributor of electrical equipment, signed a 10-year lease to occupy the space beginning January 1, 2008.

Brook Electrical Supply will use the 880 South Rohlwing Road facility for storage, distribution and customer sales. The distribution center will complement the company’s existing facilities, which include its Lincolnshire, Ill. headquarters, and other Illinois facilities in Chicago, Carol Stream, Darien, Lincolnshire, Mokena and Elgin, and in Kenosha, Wis.

The facility, acquired by IDI in 2006, is located in the West Suburban submarket of Chicago and features Solarcrete construction with 32-foot clear-height ceilings, early suppression fast response (ESFR) sprinklers and 42-foot by 42-foot column spacing. Tenant improvements will include upgrading the number of dock doors from 10 to 19 and expanding the parking lot. A total of 290,681 square feet remains available for lease in the building.

Keith Puritz of CB Richard Ellis represented Brook Electrical and John Cash, David Haigh and Irv Malik were the listing brokers. Jeff Lanaghan, vice president of leasing and development for IDI, represented IDI in the lease deal.

At IDI’s Southgate Commerce Center in Montgomery, Ill., Caterpillar Logistics Services Inc. is expanding into an additional 134,960 square feet of space. With the lease signing for the additional space, the company as of October 1 occupied a total of 295,620 square feet in the building. Cat Logistics provides supply-chain logistics services to its parent company, Caterpillar Inc., which has a manufacturing facility across the street from Southgate Commerce Center.

Matthew Stauber of Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler represented both sides in the transaction.
