Giving back to the communities in which we do business is a priority at IDI. At the local level and at the corporate level from its corporate headquarters in Atlanta, a number of civic, cultural and environmental organizations benefit from company funding and/or staff time dedicated by IDI employees.

IDI has been a long-time contributor to The Trust for Public Land. This organization is the only national nonprofit working exclusively to help conserve land for recreation and spiritual nourishment and to improve the health and quality of life of U.S. communities. Greg Gregory, president and CEO of IDI, is chairman of the National Real Estate Advisory Council as well as a board member of the Georgia chapter of the TPL.

The Study Hall at Emmaus House in Atlanta is designated to help the seriously at-risk child grow out of a negative and isolated atmosphere and into a world of knowledge and self-esteem. Through Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer David Birdwell, IDI contributes time and funding to provide needed support.

The Atlanta Opera also has received funding from IDI for several years. The Opera strives to present opera productions of the highest standards possible while fostering education about the art form and encouraging its growth. Gregory also serves as a board member of The Atlanta Opera.

Encompassing even more cultural icons of Atlanta, the Woodruff Arts Center benefits from significant financial contributions by IDI. Greg Gregory serves as Real Estate Chairman to this organization, which for 30 years has become the most dynamic center for the visual and performing arts in the South. The Alliance Theatre Company, High Museum of Art, Atlanta College of Art, 14th Street Playhouse and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra make up the Woodruff Arts Center.

IDI employees take seriously their donations to worthy causes, and they have fun making their contributions. Many IDI employees contribute their weekend time to local organizations providing housing for those in need. Their work includes building, painting, and landscaping to make the houses feel more like homes. In addition, The IDI Esprit employee committee, dedicated to spreading good cheer throughout IDI and to others, sponsors regular “Denim Days” to benefit local and national charities. For a donation, employees can wear denim to the office on the designated days. These employee campaigns have raised thousands of dollars for the Miami Project, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, American societies for leukemia and lymphoma, the Georgia chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Alzheimer’s Association and, most recently, the American Red Cross.

Across the company, IDI contributes from every regional office to a number of organizations. The many causes that IDI has benefited in recent years include:

  • Crossroads Community Ministries of Atlanta
  • American Cancer Society
  • Easter Seals
